In the episode recap for "Divided
They Stand," Davis the Narrator says
"Impmon freaked when he imagined what it would be
like to be with humans!" - but that scene was not
imaginary, it was an actual flashback to his past.
As Takato slashes the MetalGarurumon card, and Guilmon
powers up, DarkLizardmon is just... standing there. When
Guilmon blasts her, she doesn't make any kind of move to
defend herself, she just stands there and lets herself
get blasted. What, are they having a turn-based battle?
Take a good look at
the guy in the mask and goggles behind Yamaki (see
screenshot). On his chest, you'll see the same pin that
Yamaki always wears on his lapel (though he wears his at
an angle). Is this the Hypnos logo?
When Takato talks with Miss Asaji outside school, he
pronounces her name "Esaji," as he did in "A Question of Trust," not
once, not twice, but three times. Brian Beacock is really
focusing on pronouncing it this way, too - you can tell
by the way he stresses the "e" sound. Then Mori
comes along and pronounces it just fine. What's going on
with this, seriously?
We don't get a wide-angle look at Takato's class in this
episode, but the seat next to him is now occupied by a
girl in a blue shirt. In an attempt to explain the
ever-changing layout, Aaron Thall suggests that perhaps
the kids pick and choose their seats, which I'd consider
a fine explanation, if Takato, Kazu, Jeri and Jeri's
brunette friend weren't always in the same seats
(especially given that Takato is almost always one of the
last kids into the room, which wouldn't leave him with a
lot of choice, seat-wise).
The silhouetted Digimon who appear on the computer
Terriermon is playing on are:
Apemon
Crabmon
Dolphmon
WaruMonzaemon
Suzie is now referring to her doll/dress-up game as
"Princess Pretty Pants," as she and others will
continue to do from now on.
When Yamaki talks with the chiefs of staff (above), the
character in the top left hand corner of the screen
speaks with the voice of the Chief Cabinet Secretary, has
his personality, and is referred to as "the
chief" - undoubtedly, in the dub, he is written as
being the secretary. However, the character depicted in
the animation is not the secretary - this character has
grey hair (the screenshot makes it look darker than it
is), and is wearing clear glasses, while the secretary
has black hair and wears dark glasses (see the screenshot
on the right).
The
character in the bottom right hand corner resembles the
secretary on a superficial level, but his hair and
glasses, while the right colour, are a different style to
the secretary's, and his head is also somewhat more
square - all these things become more evident when you
see this man directly from the front, when he turns his
head to look straight into the screen at one point during
the meeting (which I have not been able to find a
screenshot of). Also, he is eating during the meeting,
and doesn't say much, which isn't like the secretary,
given his demeanour in his other appearances. Naturally,
he does not have the secretary's voice, instead being
vocalised by Robert Martin Klein.
It's possible that neither of these characters is
supposed the secretary, but this seems odd, given that
the secretary is the one Yamaki always reports to in all
other instances. It's possible the animators may have
drawn the grey-haired man in place of the secretary -
note that he is communicating from the back seat of a
car, which the secretary will later be seen to do, in "The Boar Wars."
When the official with the golf club (bottom left),
delivers his lines about his cat during the female
official's (top right) explanation of Digimon, his screen
never lights up, as it should when he is speaking.
Obviously enough, it's because he wasn't speaking in the
original version.
When the officials in the bottom right and bottom left
screens say, "So they're like a pack of freak circus
animals, what's the big deal?" and, "I agree -
I mean, who doesn't love the circus?" respectively,
their screens do not light up, for the same reason as
above. And I'm not especially fond of the
circus...
When "the chief" resumes speaking after Yamaki
tells him the Juggernaut's name, a second or so into his
line, his screen briefly fades to grey before returning
to colour again, but his dialogue is uninterrupted.
Presumably, in the original, this brief fade to grey was
when Yamaki spoke and gave the Juggernaut's name.
When the official in the bottom left questions, "How
do I know you won't blow up my swimming pool?" -
surprise, his screen doesn't light up.
The footage of the kids running past Takato and Guilmon,
just before the kid goes down the slide in the
background, is re-used a few seconds later.
Takato remarks "I wish I could change too!" and
Guilmon says, "Takato, Digivolve!" I love
foreshadowing, don't you?
I know that it's done for dramatic, eerie effect, and all
that jazz, but in all seriousness, how *does* the Man in
Black disappear like that?
This isn't a mistake, or even an observation, but more an
idle wondering - what's in the envelope Henry's holding
when he returns home?
